The Gappers

Who are The Gappers and what kind of name is that?

To stand in the gap:
“to expose one’s self for the protection of something; to make defense against any assailing danger; to take the place of a fallen defender or supporter.”

The Gappers are a small group of people here at Crossroads Community Church that strive to listen closely to the Holy Spirit and delve deeply into prayer. During this process of intercession and prayer their hearts are moved towards the needs of not only the church and it’s members but other matters that the Holy Spirit would bring. When someone is fallen because of illness or a spiritual battle, they move quickly to “Stand in the Gap”. This means even though that person may not be there to pray for they stand in place for that person in representation for the will of our Father. If you are struggling with a battle these are the folks you want on your side!

I chose the Gappers for this ministry highlight because they are doing something that is being done less and less. We as a body of Christ wonder why our spiritual lives seem to dry up so easily. It’s prayer and the devotion to spend time with God that keeps our spiritual lives healthy and this group shows us how it’s done. When you give of yourself by using your time in prayer for the needs of others instead of for yourself you become a blessing and at the same time will be blessed yourself as you spend time in prayer with your Father.
